Road Sign Wall

Every sign below turns up on Dún Laoghaire test routes or in the theory test. Drawn for revision, not decoration — if you can't name one before reading its label, it goes on your study list.

Test yourself properly in the practice questions below.

Section 02

Test-Day Checklist

Tests get cancelled at the door over paperwork and car issues more often than you'd think — and you lose the fee. Two minutes with this list the night before saves you eight more weeks of waiting.

You

  • Current learner permit — the physical card, not a photo of it
  • Held the permit at least 6 months (first car test)
  • EDT lessons completed and logbook stamped
  • Glasses or lenses if your permit says you need them
  • Arrive 10–15 minutes early, phone on silent

The Car

  • Valid NCT, motor tax and insurance discs displayed
  • L plates visible front and rear
  • Lights, indicators, brake lights and horn all working
  • Tyres legal — at least 1.6mm tread, no cuts or bulges
  • Seatbelts working, car clean enough for the examiner to sit in

Based on the RSA's published requirements — check rsa.ie for the current official list before your test date.

Section 03

The Verbal Questions

At the start of the test the examiner asks a couple of technical checks and rules-of-the-road questions out loud. These 32 cover what actually gets asked — all public knowledge from the Rules of the Road, written up in our own words. Tap a question to see the answer.

Section 04

Practice Questions

Original questions written for this site, based on the Rules of the Road and the signs above. Instant feedback, no login, retake as often as you like.
